A Christmas gift from Goldilocks changed how I thought about business gifts.

During a company visit, I saw a book Goldilocks had given its supplier. It showed beautiful cakes, their ingredients and how much of each to use.

I asked to photocopy it. The officials refused.

As I looked through it, I felt invited to imagine making a cake at home—and to see the care that goes into each one.

But the book also made me think about the people behind those cakes.

Suppliers helped make them possible. Customers chose them for moments worth celebrating.

To me, the gift said: “You are part of what we create.”

Our suppliers and customers help make our business possible, too. Behind them are accountants and bookkeepers who help keep the records their businesses rely on.
